It's election day all across America today and here in Spencer County, Abraham Lincoln's Boyhood Home, it seems appropriate to look to him for guidance.
Here are a few words of wisdom on elections and government from our nation's 16th president.
"To give victory to the right, not bloody bullets, but peaceful ballots only, are necessary."
"A house divided against itself cannot stand."
"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."
"Lets have faith that right makes might; and in that faith let us, to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand it."
